Christmas Eve Presents

On Christmas Eve, we opened presents in the morning and in the evening.  Normally we just do it after Christmas Eve Church Service, but I knew my sister, Kendra, was giving them a movie.  Since I had to work in the morning from home, I needed something to entertain the kids for a few hours.   They loved opening the movie and then they loved watching the movie, Turbo.

After Christmas Eve service, we opened another few gifts.   The kids loved their Christmas pajamas, their new toy/game, and a new Christmas tree ornament.

Then we set out cookies and eggnog for Santa as well as some carrots, nuts, and raisins for the reindeer.

Christmas Eve Hike

It has become a tradition that we take a walk to Subway (the only place nearby where we can sit down and eat) from our house on Christmas Eve.  We were fortunate that the weather was nice.  Not as warm as over the previous weekend, but at least it wasn't raining or really cold.

We are CONSTANTLY telling Alex and Aubrey to walk and not run.  Well I caught this picture of Alex falling off the sidewalk because he was running.  Of course, after you run and fall, you need to make silly poses.

Lunch at Subway.

Until next year.

Beautiful Weather in December

On the weekend before Christmas, we had absolutely beautiful weather.   It got up to about 70 degrees outside which is crazy for here in December.   We had originally made indoor plans but quickly changed our plans when we saw how nice it was going to be.   We decided to take a hike on the Billy Goat Trail near Great Falls in Maryland.   It was a wonderful hike.  The kids did great climbing over all the boulders and staying on the trail.   We will need to do that hike again.

Of course, a good snack makes any hike fun.
This hike was about four miles long and there were a lot of rocks, boulders, and rock walls that we had to climb up and down.  The kids did really well with all of them.  They walked the whole thing.  However, the last half mile was a bit of a struggle as they were getting hot and tired, but we finished.   After the hike, we enjoyed a pizza dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Visit to Santa

A little over a week ago, we went to see Santa.   Both Aubrey and Alex had a bit to say.   Aubrey wants a Doll Buggy and Alex wants a little of everything...from Legos to a Switch-n-go Dino.  His list changes every day, but Aubrey's has remained constant.  I hope Santa comes thru.

Alex had to show Santa that he lost his first tooth.

Sledding in mid December Snow

In Mid-December, we had a snow day.  The local schools and federal government were all shut down due to the weather.   So with the snow falling, we went sledding at a nearby hill.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Just after Thanksgiving, we decorated the Christmas tree.  We have way too many ornaments.  : )  The kids insisted that every ornament go on the tree.   They worked really hard at it.

Sliding Lion

For their school Thanksgiving dinner, Alex was "Sliding Lion".  He did a great job and loved his outfit.  Please ignore the PJs.  : )

Aubrey was so excited that Olivia and Aunt Kendra were able to be here for her dance recital.
