Another two-wheeled cyclists

Aubrey is so excited that she has joined the rest of us and is now a two-wheeled cyclist.  We are so proud of her.  She worked so hard to get there.  She was determined...very determined....to figure out how to do it and she did!

Now Alex and Aubrey ride around the the street and give their parents heart attacks by how fast they are spinning around.

They are always taking "bike trips" around the circle.  The other day, Aubrey said she was pretending to ride her bike to Marissa and Jessica's home.   We had a great visit with them.

Early Birthday Presents from Marissa and Jessica

During our visit, Marissa and Jessica gave Alex and Aubrey some early 5th birthday presents.
Aubrey loved the long lasting bubbles.

Everyone loved playing with the Marble Works set.  I think Marissa and Jessica liked it as much as (if not even more than) Alex and Aubrey.  : )

Then once we got back home to our place, Alex got to dig for dinosaur bones and Aubrey got to dig for gems.  Alex and Aubrey spent a good hour if not a lot longer finding all their treasures in their last birthday gift.

Aubrey was a little dirty by the time she was done.

South Mountain

While in Arizona, we took two trips up South Mountain.  The first time we drove up there and the next time, we hiked up a part of it.  We had a great time both times.

Here is a cute picture of Dave's daughters when we drove up to the top.

These pictures are from when we hiked up there.

Hmmm.....so which way are we supposed to go?

At the top of where we hiked with the city of Phoenix in the background.

There were some steep rocky uphills and downhills, but everyone did great!

Alex and Aubrey (well particularly Alex), liked to stop along the path and pretend they were cactus's.

Every once in a while, I see brotherly/sisterly love as they hold hands.

Early Morning Trip to a Phoenix Playground

While in Arizona, we took another early morning trip to a playground before Marissa and Jessica joined us for the day.   We had a great time at this playground.

Aubrey was really excited to be up high on the play rock.  Alex was ready to get down as soon as he got up there.

During most of the trip, Alex insisted on wearing his had backwards.

Trip to Tucson Outdoor Museum

While visiting with Marissa and Jessica we took the drive down to Tucson, Arizona and checked out the Sonora Desert Museum.  We all enjoyed it and the weather was perfect for being outside in Arizona.  It wasn't too hot and there was a nice breeze.

The picture above needs a narrative.  We were almost done with the tour of the museum and we were kind of tired.  So we opted to sit on this peaceful looking bench in the Bird Aviary.  That is until Dave pointed out that there were birds directly over our heads.  I have never seen us all get up so fast.   No one wanted to have bird poop in their hair.

I am really not sure why Alex is attempting a peace sign.  Hmmmm.

Trip to Arizona

We got back from our trip to Arizona last week.   We had an absolutely wonderful time.  We went there to spend time with Marissa and Jessica.  Marissa leaves for an 18 month church mission to Italy on May 1st, so we wanted to see her before she left.  Of course, it was great to see Jessica while we were there.

The one dreaded thing of going to Arizona in the spring is the time change. Of course, most of you thought I was going to say the heat.  But with two four year old kids, it is the time change of three hours.  Of course, we went to bed early and were up much earlier than Marissa and Jessica.  The first morning we were there, we decided to let Marissa and Jessica sleep and we took a quick short trip to Hole in the Rock to check it out with Alex and Aubrey.

Here we are at the top

Aubrey is our fearless child when it comes to heights.  She is at the top of one of the rocks even before Alex and I got started.

Alex is a little more cautious when it comes to heights and I am perfectly fine with that.

Alex and Aubrey were so excited to see cactus everywhere.  They thought this one was cool because it was so tall.  They wanted me to take two pictures so that they both could show their preschool class the pictures.

Arizona

Last week we had a wonderful time visiting Marissa and Jessica in Phoenix, Arizona.   Alex and Aubrey loved visiting with them and touring around the desert.  Although Alex still doesn't understand why we didn't see any camels in the desert.  : )    I know my family would love to see pictures....so hopefully soon I can get them all sorted out and posted on the blog.

Oh and soon we will have two five year olds in our family.    It is going to be a great weekend.

Ballet and Gymnastics

This last winter, Aubrey took a ballet class and Alex took a gymnastics class.  Here are some pictures from their last class.

(Alex's picture was taken from a clear window, so that's why it looks funny.)

Easter Sunday

Neighborhood Egg Hunt

On Saturday before Easter, we had an Easter Egg Hunt in our backyard with some neighborhood friends.  We had a great time.  We were supposed to do it on Sunday, but with the wonderful weather on Saturday and the iffy forecasted weather on Sunday, we moved the hunt to Saturday.  It was a great decision.

Getting ready to go

Checking out their treasures at the end of the hunt.
