Warm Spring

A couple weeks ago, we went for a family bike ride.  When we got back, Dave turned the sprinkler on the front yard.   Alex and Aubrey started running through it and had a blast.

Easter Egg Hunt at Church

Enjoying an Easter Egg Hunt at church.

Family Picture

Checking out the eggs.  They were filled with candy.  Great surprises right before church.  : )

I think his mouth might be full of chocolate.

Easter Morning Attempt at a Family Picture

It is almost impossible to get a picture with everyone looking in the right direction.  Oh well, we get their quirky sides.

(Note:  Marissa was still getting ready as we were trying to get a picture.)

Handsome Alex

Alex was helping me test the setting of the tripod for our family picture.  I got this handsome picture!

Traditions

Over the holidays, I have tried to think about creating traditions with our family.   But as I think of creating new traditions, I am reminded of my past traditions.   In my home growing up, my Mom always had a basket of various painted eggs....ceramic, wooden, etc.   Last year, I mentioned to my Mom that if she didn't want the eggs anymore, that I would love to pass along that tradition.  Well, my Mom decided to pass them along last winter.  I am so happy that this year they took their place on my dining room table.  Alex and Aubrey enjoyed looking at them.  I just put them safely away last night and am already looking forward to putting them out again next year.

When I was in college, my Mom mailed me a care package that included this white tree with some Easter decorations on it.   This year, Marissa helped me decorate it and it took its place on the fireplace mantle.

A new tradition that we have started is making this bunny cake.  We made it the last two years and we made it once again.  This year, we made it from scratch.  Alex and Aubrey really enjoy mixing all the ingredients together for the cake.  After it was baked, Dave put the icing on and Alex and Aubrey helped with the coconut and the jelly beans.

The one memory that I already have of the bunny cake is from the first time I made the cake two years ago. It was sitting on the counter of our kitchen in our previous house. I thought I had seen Alex chewing on something moments earlier, but when I went to check his mouth, I didn't see anything. Then as I glanced at the cake, I realized a chunk had been taken out of the ear. It must have been Alex. Dave and I just looked at it and laughed.

May all these traditions continue and new ones evolve.

Dave's Sailing Trip

Dave went for a week long sailing trip with a friend off the coast of Pensacola, FL, a couple weeks ago.  The trip got cut a little short due to a storm approaching.  But the time he was out sailing, he had a great time and enjoyed the change of pace.

Of course, Dave didn't take any pictures of himself, but he did get a picture of his friend Chris.

Twin Group Egg Hunt

A couple weekends ago, we went to an egg hunt with a twin group that I belong to.
We thought it might rain on us, but the rain held off until the egg hunt was over.

Here is Aubrey with remnants of the powdered sugar donut hole on her face.  Her basket is so full.

Alex running to find some more eggs.  Although I think his basket is full, too.

Checking out what's in the eggs.  We just checked out a couple of the eggs because the rain started coming down.  We finished checking out the rest of the eggs at home.
